Solid track, but doesn't stand out as much

This track is a solid dance piece, which can stand up to any remix.  The beat is solid, the sample quality is excellent, and the song is the right lenght without repeating ideas unnecessarily.  But it doesn't seem to have anything that really sticks out to differentiate it from other trance or techno.

I wonder what effect there might be on this song if there was a more well-defined lead instrument that took a few more liberties with the melody.  The instrument doesn't have to be something normally found in techno; a violin or electric guitar playing the melody might be worth trying to see what it sounds like.  The idea would be to make this remix a little more unique.

Of course, it might turn out upon hearing it that such an idea sounds horrible, but it still might be worth experimenting a little.
