PSA: How to submit to RemixSquared (NEW MEMBERS, READ THIS)

Shredster7 · March 25, 2014 at 21:10 UTC

WELCOME!
If you're reading this, chances are you're looking to upload your sweet tunes to our lovely website. Unfortunately, the last several users who have signed up were posting their songs to the wrong parts of the website. I'm here to try and clean up some of that confusion.

WHERE TO UPLOAD
After you've created your RemixSquared profile, first go back to the main website, then click on the "Control Panel" link in the upper right corner of the page (or just use this link).

From that point, underneath the site's banner, there's a button called Upload a New Song. Clicking on that lovely button will take you to a series of pages where you can upload your song, as well as apply several identification tags to that song. This tagging bit is really important, as they'll help other users find your song when searching through RemixSquared's growing collection of songs.

Additionally, the NewSongBot will automatically create a forum topic specifically dedicated to your new song within the next hour-or-so.

OUR FEW EXPECTATIONS
Unlike most video game remix sites, we believe that excluding "low quality" songs from our site is an absolutely horrible idea; after all, how are you supposed to know what you need to improve on if you're not getting any feedback? HOWEVER, there are a few major guidelines we'd like for you to keep in mind when uploading songs to the site:

1) Plagarism - the act of stealing someone else's work and claiming it as your own will get your account suspended when we find out you've been stealing.

2) YouTube Videos - posting links to your music on YouTube is not allowed! If you post a link to a YouTube video containing your music instead of uploading your music to the database, your post will be removed. If you want to link to someone else's music on YouTube, feel free to do so in the Community Subforum. Additionally, linking to YouTube videos in the Off-Topic subforum is totally fine.

3) Non-Video Game Music remixes - If it's yet another Zelda remix, a remix of a tune from an obscure indie game, or even an original composition you've created for your own video game, then you're welcome to upload it to our website. However, if the song is outright unrelated to Video Games in general, it will be removed from the database.

4) Family Unfriendly Content - This should be obvious. If your music contains questionable lyrics (video game music has lyrics?!), then it will likely be removed.

GO NUTS!
Upload one of your songs to our database, or upload your entire library of compositions. Collaborate with another artist on an album. Spend an hour browsing the database for yet another Zelda remix to add to your collection. Ask a question about making music over in the Composition and Production subforum. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop us Mods message. And most importantly: sit back, relax, and have a good time.
