Here's is my submission for Composition Combat. I feel like this song has captured the essence of the game's theme. There is a darkness and oppression all around, but also an underlying strength trying to overcome.

I didn't compress the sound a whole lot because I didn't want it sounding "squashed"...so turn up the volume a bit if needed =)

A beutiful classical work unfortunately let down by some nig

I think the problem I had when listening to this track was that I was always waiting for the epic climax that would tie that awesome classical riff together with the percussion and though the track does reach a pinicle, it didn't quite make it in my ears. Maybe because the buildup had been so gradual the whole time. I really love that violin, the melody is just classy. I didn't unfortunately, like the guitar tone. I think had you replaced the lead with another classical instrument or synth it would have worked out better. I think I have the sound in my head of how the guitars would need to be in order to really drive the track, but you'd really need to put it through Amlplitude Metal a few times or have Nobuo's Uematsu's guys working on it. It needed, imo of course, to be hard hitting and icey, but instead it was a little muddy sounding next to the crisp quality of the VSTs.

That's mainly a mixing thing though. I can't really take down a notch for that, I didn't use any guitar in my track because I knew I couldn't pull it off, haha! But the main issue was really just that it didn't quite hit that epic spot for me and the guitars only served to take away from what was an otherwise beautifully disturbing tune. I can't wait to hear more, but you'll forgive me for not giving as many points as the track could be worth.

Keep writing, I like it!

Love it or hate it

I agree with the results that "Certain Uncertainty" is a love-it-or-hate-it song.  Most people listening to this song are either going to love it for being out of the box, or they're going to hate it because it is so different from the other songs on the site.  While I myself appreciate the attempt, I fall more towards the "hate it" side.  I'm not sure it fit the tone of the competition well.

When I read the description, I envision an epic soundtrack that has more structure than "Certain Uncertainty" does.  I can't imagine listening to "Certain Uncertainty" while playing the game because it's not the sort of song that causes strong emotions to well up.  It's a good experiment that would need some more development to be used in a game.
