As promised, I am what I plan to accomplish this weekend. Based on input from the "text wall" thread that Shredster7 wrote, it seems that minor usability improvements may be the best place to start. Please comment on whether you think these are a good idea or if I missed something important.

1. I'm going to retrieve and parse the backup from the old VGMdb data, and then create a list of songs and games. This list will assist Shredster or whoever else is going to work on the classification of old songs.

2. I'm going to attempt to create a "finished" button for albums, which will allow artists to declare that they are not adding any more songs to an album and have a "release" created.

3. I will set up a torrent tracker on the site, and work on a program that does the following when an album is "finished:" creates a canonical zip file containing all of the album's data, creates a torrent file for the album, seeds the torrent file, and publishes it to big sites like the pirate bay, what.cd, openbittorrent, and so on. The torrents will contain the URL of the site, for publicity. This won't be finished this weekend, but if we can get it to auto-publish to a large number of sites, I would hope that people see how easy it is to distribute albums this way.

Much of this weekend will be taken up by the move of shoemakervillage.org from the Lunarpages account to the remixsquared server, and setting up E-Mail at remixsquared.com. Perhaps I will offer remixsquared.com E-Mail accounts to regular visitors to increase visibility when people inquire about the domain. Unfortunately, this migration will delay remixsquared work. I need to get all data moved away from Lunarpages so that I can cancel my account there and reduce expenses. There isn't any reason to be paying for two servers.

I successfully moved all of the services to the new server. If I messed anything up with this site, please let me know. The next task is to verify that everything is working and discontinue to old service to conserve money.

The E-Mail server setup took many hours, and there wasn't enough time left to get the VGMdb data processed. I hope to do that tonight.

I am now able to offer E-Mail addresses @remixsquared.com. Contact me if you're interested in one. I figure that the more people who use them, the better the chance that someone gets curious about the domain.

Are the Email addresses 're-directs' to existing addresses, a-la Gmail?
Also, don't push yourself too hard to get the VGMdb data ASAP; it's going to be another 3 weeks before summer break for me.

The E-Mail addresses are not redirects; however, GMail specifically can be set up to automatically check external addresses and integrate their messages into other accounts. Since I don't use GMail and use Thunderbird for my messages, you'll need to search for yourself exactly how to set up GMail checking.

GMail does not allow you to send messages from external accounts without paying for the "Google Apps for Business" service. There is a webmail interface set up at shoemakervillage.org/mail that allows both sending and receiving mail with the usual features expected of an E-mail client.

I was able to obtain the list of games from the archive. Here it is. Note that these are only the tracks that have VGMdb data associated with them, so if a song does not appear on this list, then it was listed as an original work. I eliminated deleted songs from the list since the files are not retained anyway, so it's not worth our effort to fix them.
