I wrote this song a couple years ago, trying to capture the nostalgic sound and feel of the music from classic Super Nintendo RPGs.  The instrument samples used were all taken from various SNES games, but I couldn't figure out any way to accurately simulate the unique delay that the system used, so it doesn't sound quite as authentic as it could.  Plus, I didn't bother limiting myself to only 8 notes of polyphony. :P  But compositionally and structurally, I think you'll hear many of the elements that made game music from that era so special.

Thanks for listening!

Captures the SNES and forest themes perfectly!

This song is excellent.  It captures the SNES idea in an awesome way, and it's great for a forest.  You can hear Nobuo Uematsu's influence in this work, actually.  It amazes me how some artists can conjure up images in your mind of game scenes without seeing anything or reading anything.  If someone had told me to name what part of a game this was from, I would have easily picked out that this was a forest in under a second.

On the other hand, I found myself wondering whether it could be even better using modern instruments.  Perhaps I'm just not the nostalgic type, because the melody is beautiful.  It achieves the stated objective perfectly, but technology moves on and I always like to see and hear the latest and greatest.  I can't knock the song for something like this, though.

Edited: removed the part about repetition.  The song is just repeated twice, which doesn't count as repetition.
