A word about the community

Historical announcement; references to uploads, registration and other interactive services describe the original site.

Today, I implemented a feature which I had strived to avoid since this project was first conceived: a forum. You can access the new forum at http://forum.remixsite.org/, and you can post anything you'd like that relates to this site, its songs, or other game music happenings.

The community is a split and inefficient group of sites and forums, many of which are unwilling to help each other. When a new site appears, people rightfully question its need because there are so many other sites around. But it's not surprising that there are so many sites when the coordinators of those sites decline to work together.

I don't see another forum as necessary because it causes fewer posts, and fewer users, on all forums. To alleviate this issue, I tried to contact organizers of several sites to see if they wanted to collaborate. At one site, I was asked to stop posting, which is disappointing but not out-of-line. I E-Mailed a prominent community member about collaboration, and he rudely ignored my message, even though I used didtheyreadit.com to ensure it was read. I talked about the site in one forum where users were complaining that VGMix was dead and there weren't any other sites around, but the post was deleted. I talked with another webmaster who never continued the conversation, received no response from the owner of a similar site when I asked him if we could integrate our sites, and had an E-Mail to one person who actually was associated with VGMix again read (proven with didtheyreadit), but ignored.

While I am disappointed but can understand when a request to help is declined, the outright rudeness and arrogance of some leaders is unprofessional. Despite this response, however, I am still willing to work with anyone who wants to create a single, great resource for game music, and even those who were mentioned above can contact me anytime.

Feel free to discuss this topic in the new forums.
