Medley of songs from the very obscure, Japan-only NES game Jesus Kyoufu no Bio Monster (Jesus and the Dreadful Bio Monster). The game is a survival-horror game, most of the gameplay being like a text-based RPG in which you choose what to do next from a list of actions. The only reason the name "Jesus" is in the title is because the game takes place on the Spacestation Jesus. That's just what it's called. This isn't a bible game. But even knowing that, this game still has a funny title!
My arrangement is basically in two large parts: the first is a slow-paced, melancholy collection of themes that reflect the sadness experienced throughout the game. During the course of the game, almost everyone dies while trying to escape the "Dreadful Bio Monster". Most of the guitars in this section have a ring modulator effect on them. This effect gives it a creepy, metallic, sci-fi sound. Adrian Belew of King Crimson used a lot a ring modulators on the album Three of a Perfect Pair, which is what inspired me to try that here. My lead is a hi-gain fuzz lead, based on Steve Hackett of Genesis' guiat tone.
The medley then sweeps into the second half. This section is fast paced and hard, taking inspiration from Dream Theater and Frost. There's a big guitar solo here before winding down into a quietly tapped melody. For the ending, I used a method first used in rock music by Steve Hackett called "tapping", in which fingers from both hands tap down on strings on the fretboard to play a melody.
